Christmas Island’s native red land crabs journey

Christmas Island’s native red land crabs undergo a transformation when they embark on their annual five kilometre breeding migration to the ocean.

In a genetic study, scientists from the University of Bristol found that when the monsoon arrived, the crabs' muscles became highly resistant to fatigue.
