Pushing Boom Into Place - Oil Spill Protection

Workmen lay a white oil absorbant boom in front of bright orange booms on the Louisiana Coast near the mouth of the Mississippi River May 4, 2010.

The workers were in a race to protect the coast from the BP leased Deepwater Horizon oil platform disaster that has spilled into the Gulf of Mexico. The BP leased oil platform exploded and sank on April 20, 2010 leaking an estimated 5,000 barrels of crude oil into the Gulf of Mexico threatening wildlife and the seafood industry in the Gulf.
