Lava and Lightning

Volcanic lightning (known as a "dirty thunderstorm") appears above Shinmoedake peak as it erupts. Ash and rocks fell across a wide swathe of southern Japan.

I always find it fascinating how nature can be both destructive and beautiful at the same time, the effortless act of both destruction and creation. Fantastic photograph.
